Typhoon Fitow hits China

Typhoon Fitow has hit China’s eastern coast, with winds of up to 151km/h (93mph).

The powerful storm has killed at least five people, with four others missing, Chinese media report.

More than 4.5 million people have been affected and officials in Fujian and Zhejiang provinces said it has caused economic losses of more than 21 billion yuan.

The typhoon made landfall at 01:15 local time on Monday in the city of Fuding.

Rescue operations are ongoing.
