China’s National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) has begun an antitrust investigation against U.S. firm Qualcomm, one of the world’s biggest chipmakers.
Qualcomm said the investigation involved China’s anti-monopoly law (AML).
“The NDRC has advised that the substance of the investigation is confidential. The Company is not aware of any charge by the NDRC that Qualcomm has violated the AML. We will continue to cooperate with the NDRC as it conducts its confidential investigation,” it said.
Qualcomm is a world leader in 3G, 4G and next-generation wireless technologies and the investigation comes at a time when China is gearing for the launch of 4G Long Term Evolution (LTE) Networks.
