Netflix to Reach New Asian Markets in Early 2016

Internet television network Netflix will launch in Singapore in early 2016 the Company said in a statement today. 

The announcement comes after the streaming service said it will open an office in Singapore in the coming months, with plans for this office to become the hub for its expanding operations in Asia.

Once launched, internet users in Singapore will be able to subscribe to Netflix and instantly watch a curated selection of popular TV shows and movies on almost any internet-connected screen.

“As the central hub in Southeast Asia, Singapore is a sophisticated and diverse place that will find much to love about the Netflix service,” said Netflix CEO, Reed Hastings.

“The combination of increasing internet speeds and availability of smart phones and TVs will provide consumers with the anytime, anywhere ability to enjoy their favourite movies and TV shows on Netflix.” 

The company added that it will also launch its service in South Korea, Hong Kong and Taiwan in early 2016 to further bolster its position in Asian markets.
